What are the names of God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost?

In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, these words we hear often in prayer, but what actually are the names of these referred to as the Father, the son, the Holy Ghost in the bible? Jesus during his ministry referred to the father, referred to the Holy Ghost several times, and referred to the Christ.

In the Lord’s prayer Jesus taught the people how to pray thus: Our father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

The opening of the Lord’s prayer refers to the name of the father, who is first and supreme creator. Let us roll back time and put ourselves in the person of Jesus, apostles, and the Jews at that time. The father as known to the Hebrews, taught to them by their forefathers is the God YHVH. Hence the first line of the Lord’s prayer is addressing the God YHVH. So from this stand point it is clear that the name of the father in reference here is YHVH. Both Jesus and the apostles were Hebrews, so we of the present generation must know that Jesus did not pray by the name of Jesus, neither did his mother Mary pray by the name of Jesus, neither did his father Joseph pray by the name Jesus, and neither did the apostles pray by the name of Jesus. The Hebrews that lived in that era worshipped the God YHVH. Jesus even rebuked Satan, when he tempted him on the mountain, and told satan that man must worship God only; meaning the father YHVH, and no other.

Jesus clearly knew that he is not God the father; there are no questions about that, no doubt, and no dispute in that statement. Still holding the thought of living in the ancient era of the Jews, the sons of God referred to everywhere were the angels of God. For in ancient times the Hebrews knew that there are Elohim or Gods one of which is the God YHVH and there are many angels that serve God. There was no question about that either, for they have seen angels many times and many accounts have been given about them in the bible. So no doubt, the son of God in reference here in the trinity is an angel of the God YHVH.

Now considering the third line, the word Holy Ghost; this word is only found in the New Testament bible so obviously it is something new. This spirit seemed to have arrived just before Jesus was born, for the mother of John the Baptist was said to have been conceived by the Holy Ghost, and so was Mary the mother of Jesus. The Holy Ghost, is also sometimes referred to as the Holy Spirit. Jesus testified that the Holy Ghost was upon him, and by the power of this Holy Ghost he can heal the sick, the cripple walk, the dead are raised, and many miracles were performed by Jesus through the power of the Holy Ghost. Jesus was said to have even baptized the apostles with the Holy Ghost, and several others, such that they too were able to perform miracles by the power of the Holy Ghost. Jesus all that time never once said he was the Holy Ghost, for he could not say so, for obviously he was a man, a prophet whereas the Holy Ghost is a spirit.

But still then what is the name of the Holy Ghost? The son of God we know by now that it is a spirit, an angel and the Holy Ghost is also a spirit. But Isaiah gives us a clue what the name of the son of God is in Isaiah 7:14, the name is Emmanuel. Emmanuel is the name of an angel meaning God with us, and it is Emmanuel as spirit is the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost, the son of God, and the messiah was the prophet Jesus.

These three personalities have distinct and separate identities. The father has his own identity, the son as the angel Emmanuel has his own identity, and the messiah as Jesus has his own identity as a man. To have better understanding of this subject read the previous articles titled ANGELS AND DEMONS, EMMANUEL AND LUCIFER, and also the article titled EMMANUEL, THE HOLY GHOST OF CHRISTIANITY.

Christians must come to grips to accept Jesus as a messiah, a prophet and a man for this does not diminish their faith in God, neither does it diminish the power of the angels. But what is certainly weakening the church is the notion that Jesus is God. This concept is rather strengthening the position of the atheist, causing more disbelievers of the present generation than believers, and spirituality is loosing its grip on the heart of the youth of today. The generation of today have become far too advanced by their own standards to accept a man as their God, so they are choosing to become non followers of any religion if their only choice is having to worship a man like themselves. Moreover, the first to the ten commandments states that: Thou shall have no other gods besides me. So to elevate Jesus to the status of god is not helping Christianity. The name of the angel Emmanuel is associated with Jesus anywhere, so by placing Emmanuel as the son of God is more beneficial to Christianity. It is easier for the general public to accept an angel as the son of God than to accept a man as the son of God. In the name of the God Father YHVH, and in the name of God the son Emmanuel, and in the name of the Messiah Jesus, may blessings be upon you.
